Kamala Harris, former district attorney and the state attorney general is running for president for the first time with a campaign based on providing a voice to the voiceless. Harris is in support of a Medicare-for-all system, criminal reform, a large and recurring topic for her campaign and stricter gun laws. Her stance on college is similar to that of fellow candidates Warren and Biden, making two and four-year college free and canceling student debt. She plans on helping reform governmental and immigration systems in a beneficial way to the people, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. She has promised to appoint members of the LGBTQ+ community in her cabinet and other top posts once elected. Her plans to raise teacher pay and combat climate change are both very popular among her supporters and possible voters.

DC- The DC fandom includes comic books, movies, videogames and TV shows that take place in a universe where superhe- roes fight crimes, similar to their common rivals: the Marvel fandom. It is actually set in a very different universe, however, since there is a difference in heroes, villains and settings. There is anticipation in the DC fandom since the DC universe is launch- ing more than 20 new comics with return- ing superheroes such as Batman, Justice League, and The Flash in June.

Star Wars- This fandom includes many passionate and generally nerdy peo- ple who enjoy Star Wars, a science fiction film series about the adventures of various characters in space. From the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in De- cember of last year and the anticipation of what else is to come in the Star Wars franchise, this fandom has a lot to be excited about.

Harry Potter (“Potterheads”)- This fandom involves the popular book series written by J.K. Rowling and the films created based on the books. The books chronicle the ad- ventures of the young wizard Harry Potter. On July 31, Rowling will publish the script for the stage play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” which takes place 19 years after the final book of the series with the grown up wizard. The film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” based on the book which was written by Rowling in 2001, is also coming out this year. There is excitement about its release on Nov. 18.

Doctor Who (“Whovians”)- “Doctor Who” is a show that dates back about 50 years ago with a classic series as well as a new rebooted series from 2005. The se- ries, which is now on its ninth season in the new version of the show, features the ad- ventures of an alien who calls himself “the Doctor” who can travel through space and time in a police box called the “TARDIS.”
