Vanessa Morales, Features Editor
"It's very, very impactful, because a lot of journalism is communication and I won’t have my phone during the day to be able to communicate with my editors or my staff writers. You know, last year I was a staff writer, and at some point in the year, I had to write a story. It was like a one-day story, like I had to finish it in one day. Throughout the day, I had to write it, and I was able to use my phone. I was able to go on Slack to communicate with my editors. They were editing during the day, and I would go in and fix the errors. And I just feel that without this, I won't be able to communicate with other people about how stories are going. And I also feel like for interviews, I know staff writers use Otter AI to record interviews (and transcribe), so I feel it'll be very difficult to accurately get quotes because we won't be able to have a recording and look back on it."
