Instead of having a sweet 16 birthday bash like most teenage girls do, Jasmine Ter-Minasyan spent the day making her first music video.
Ter-Minasyan is currently producing new music that will be available to the public later this fall, and she will also be releasing a new music video on Oct. 6.
She has high expectations for her new song, she believes it will be a huge success.
The title of her upcoming song is “Waiting For The Moment.”
“It is catchy. I like it so much better than my first one,” Ter-Minasyan said.
In Ter-Minasyan’s song she incorporates her Armenian and English language, which established a different tone that the other songs that she has written.
“I am very excited for this one because you get to hear my singing actually stand out,” said Ter-Minasyan, a junior.
Ter-Minasyan is confident that her audience will really enjoy the beat, sound and they lyrics that her song has to offer.
She truly wants her audience to understand the meaning within the song and them message that she is trying to deliver.
Ter-Minasyan received an enormous amount of assistance in the development of this song. She gives a lot of credit to her producer, Dj Spex and famous Armenian singer David Balyan.
Ter-Minasyan’s first video, “We can Dance,” was produced on Nov. 26 of last year. Her coproducer, Miks Sarkisyan, a well-known artist in the Armenian industry, helped her write and produce her song and music video. Sarkisyan is mostly known for being part of a popular Armenian band named Erevanski.
“He’s like an older brother. He’s always encouraging me to follow my passion and not to give up on myself,” Ter-Minasyan said.
Many artists, including Sarkisyan, Adele and Katy Perry, inspire Ter-Minasyan. She believed these artist have immensely influenced her music.
“It’s the fact they are different. They are not afraid to stand out and be themselves, they each have very unique voices and their lyrics are very relatable to me,” Ter-Minasyan said.
Ter-Minasyan says she wouldn’t be able to do any of this without the enormous support she receives from her friends and family, especially her grandmother.
“We always tell her to chase her dreams,” said sophomore at DPMHS Elizabeth Hovanesian.
Ter-Minasyan hopes to make it in both the Armenian industry and the American industry. She is currently in the process of being signed by a record label, but her options are still wide open.
“This is something I plan on doing in the future, I want to make this a career,” Ter-Minasyan said.
