The first touring production of Tony-award winning musical “Kinky Boots” was nothing short of spectacular.

“Ladies, gentlemen and those who are yet to make up your mind,” is a recurring line that is said throughout the play by the character Lola.

With music written by both Tony and Grammy award winning singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper, the musical that was nominated for 13 Tony Awards in 2013, winning “Best Original Score” and “Best Musical.”

“Kinky Boots” follows the story of Charlie Price, played by Steven Booth, who inherits his father’s shoe factory. Not wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps, Charlie reluctantly claims the role as “boss.” When Charlie takes over, the business is running into the ground.

Then one night Charlie runs into Lola, played by Kyle Taylor Parker, a singing and dancing drag queen, who comes up with the idea to manufacture a new kind of shoe for the more extravagant person that will later save the Price and Son shoe factory.

The musical has lessons of friendship and acceptance for people who may be seen as “different” in a community. The play leaves audiences with the hope that negative thoughts and opinions about members of the LGBT community can be changed.

Due the amazing cast who brings the story to life, “Kinky Boots” is a must see for those capable of watching PG-13. The show will leave you in tears and wanting to dance and sing with the lively actors.
