Places to go this winter break
December 11, 2014
In the excitement of winter break, it may be hard to come up with ideas for activities you may want to do with friends or family.
For the moviegoers, winter is the time where exciting movies are released. For those into fantasy fiction, “The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies” will be coming out Dec. 19 along with the musical-comedy “Annie” and the third movie to the “Night at the Museum” trilogy, “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.”
On Dec. 25, the star-studded musical “Into the Woods” will also begin screening.
If you want to spend a day as a tourist, visiting Hollywood Boulevard is the activity for you. Have your mind blown at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum and take pictures with your favorite wax celebrities at Madame Tussauds Hollywood collection.
While exploring, also try finding your favorite actor, singer or personality’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Harry Potter fans may also want to venture to Whimsic Alley on Wilshire Boulevard, the go-to store for all of your wizardly needs.
For the students who want to learn for fun over break, head down to the California Science Center and experience the spectacular adventure of the space shuttle Endeavor.
Also, go see the mysteries of the Pompeii exhibit before it leaves on Jan. 11.
At the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, “Amazing Automobiles: The Ultimate Car Exhibit” will be on display until May 1.
See the Batmobile driven by Michael Keaton in 1989’s “Batman” and 1991’s “Batman Returns.” Also in the exhibit is the 1946 custom-made Ford that was in “Grease.”
Don’t forget to go out and get some exercise as well.
Places like Sky High Sports in Woodland Hills and Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City are fun places to go with friends and strengthen your competitive skills.
