While several teachers have children, never before have three teachers been expecting a child at the same time.

On Oct. 2 during 5th period, the public address (PA) rang. Students all turned their heads, it was suspicious for there to be an announcement at any time other than the morning.

The front office announced that Alice Josephine Morrison, science teacher James Morrison’s baby daughter, was born and thus, the DPMHS Baby Boom began.

“Having another reason to come home feels nice. I feel the same, but it feels like an addition of excitement,” Morrison said.

Math  teachers Anna Felix and Leslie Hicks will soon give birth to their babies.

Hicks is six months along looking forward to her first child, a baby boy.

“We have a short list of names but we prefer to meet him before we pick one,” Hicks said.

Hicks has been planning out both of the biggest aspects of her life, her personal and work.

“We already have the crib setup,” Hicks said. “My husband and I are working for some improvements to our home.”

Hick’s baby boy has forced her to also make adjustments for her work

“I’m making plans for my classes,” Hicks said. “We’re reviewing the AP test earlier and I’m using the flipped classroom.”

Out of the 40 weeks it takes to carry a child, math teacher Anna Felix is on the 30th week, but unlike Hicks, this is the third child she’s expecting. She has a 4-year-old and 3-year-old.

Unlike Hicks, Felix isn’t making any big changes to her classroom.

“The structure will stay the same, maybe the sub will teach a bit different but the overall structure won’t change,” Felix said.

Felix has hired a 22 year veteran math sub on their last year before retirement.

“The only thing we really need to prepare for is the energy of having another,” Felix said. Who decided to not know the sex of the baby until it’s born.
