If you’re limited to the amount of texts you can send, then Kik Messenger is the application for you. With over 19 million users, Kik is fast and trouble-free just as designed.
No iPhone? No problem. Kik is compatible with Apple, Android, and most smartphones, allowing you to reach almost all your friends and family for free.
Once you use Kik, you may feel that texting is no longer necessary. It is that fluid. Once you send a message to another Kik user, you see three letters right beside the message: “S”, “D”, and “R” in that order each meaning sent, delivered, and read. Your conversation automatically becomes more interactive.
Kik has a minimal degree of difficulty when it comes to sending messages, pictures, videos, and more. To the top left of the keyboard, there is a plus symbol which leads you to a group of options like gallery, camera and character faces.
The gallery and camera options allow you to either take a photo/video or choose from a variety from your previous taken photos/videos to eventually send. Another neat feature is the “more” feature found in the same place as the gallery and camera features are found.
This allows you to play various games with your friends such as Kik Maps, Sketchee, Smiling Dice Poker and much more. All of these games must be downloaded in order to use them. Games are free for the most part.
The one minor disruption that may occur is that an empty square will appear in place of the emoticon. Emoji faces are unfortunately incompatible with this application which is why this problem may come up.
Privacy is not an issue because a Kik username is created instead of your phone number being used, so you can keep control of your privacy.
Kik is an application that is great for people who want an interactive way to message their friends with a little twist of gaming and sharing other social apps.
“The reason I love Kik so much is because all my friends have it so I might as well just Kik,” sophomore Imani Brown said.
