Artist for the month of August goes to the talented pop/rock singer Sam Smith.

Born in the small village of  Bishop’s Stortford, Smith began his career early in life, his mother being his biggest supporter. Smith first debuted in 2012 with  “Latch” featuring the British garbage duo Disclosure, which earned over 70 million Youtube views. Smith is also known for his collaboration with the pop/rock Naughty Boy in  “La La La,” which received a hefty count of over 372 million views on Youtube.

His very own heart warming “Stay With Me,” which earned a  count of over 59 million YouTube views, easily earned himself a spot as number 9 on the Billboard 200. His performance at the Mercury Lounge in New York was where his career rocketed to greater heights.

“I’ve worked with two of the most incredible artists of this year, Disclosure and Naughty Boy and it’s been incredible. I’ve gained some friends as well which is great,” Smith said in a Vevo interview in 2013.

With his energizing voice and songs that just make you want to sing along, Sam Smith has proven himself worthy in the music industry.
