Students and families alike are all invited to see this year’s double spring concert for two evenings of spring-fueled fun.
“I’m excited to just play music because I was in band in middle school but like I haven’t performed music since then,” said senior Liam Curran, who plays bass. “So I’m excited to perform again.”
The Spring Serenade Festival will feature smaller numbers and takes place on April 23 at 7 p.m. in the grove. The Spring Passion Concert features larger performances and takes place on April 30 at 7 p.m. in the grove as well. While the first concert sets a more intimate ambiance and will not have drums, the second concert will have full bands complete with drummers and more.
“Well, I’ve been practicing for my songs since like winter break,” Curran said. “So I wouldn’t, you know, mess up and so I feel more confident performing.”
This year, there isn’t a theme for the two spring concerts. However, music teacher Wes Hambright and his students want to make it a memorable experience whether there’s a theme or not.
“There’s no themes, nothing,” Hambright said. “It’s just have a good time. Choose a bunch of good songs that we want to put together and celebrate with.”
Some songs that will be performed in the Spring Serenade Festival include “California and Me” by Laufey, “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars and “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer. Meanwhile, the setlist for the Spring Passion Concert includes titles such as “Just a Girl” by No Doubt, “Zombie” by The Cranberries, “Just the Two of Us” by Bill Withers and Grover Washington, Jr. and “Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits. In total, 39 songs are being performed in both concerts combined.
“I think we’re prepared,” said junior Benjamin Recinos, who will sing and play both piano and guitar. “I’m just most excited to be on stage and perform songs that I really like and sing from my heart.”
