Joe Biden, former vice president and a frontrunner in recent polls, started his career in law initially as an attorney, later becoming one of the youngest U.S. Senators for the state of Delaware. After losing his 2008 presidential campaign, he was selected as Barack Obama’s running mate, serving alongside him for two terms. His campaign values a strong emphasis on the middle-class people of America and bettering working conditions. Biden’s plans include improving working conditions and ensuring that every American has the opportunity to attend a free two or four- year college. In terms of healthcare, he plans on expanding upon Obama’s Affordable Care Act, having it compete against privately-owned insurance companies. This differs from other candidates’ proposals for a Medicare-for-All plan that would serve as the primary healthcare source for everybody, eliminating the need for privately-owned healthcare providers. To tackle climate change, Biden has pledged to re-enter the Paris Climate deal as well as enstating his own personal policies once in office. In addition to improvements to the criminal justice system, the Former Vice President plans on taking preventative measures to eliminate racial profiling and harsh sentencing practices.
