Athlete of the Month: Nixia Bravo leaps from cross country to track and field

Pole vaulter Nixia Bravo gets help perfecting her form from a teammate.
Q: How did you garner an interest in running?
A: I got my interest in running ever since I was younger. My dad would take my sister and I to run and hike on the weekends.
Q: How did cross country prepare you for track?
A: Cross Country prepared me for track because it conditioned my legs and helped me get the endurance I need.
Q: What is your motivation to run?
A: My motivation is just to try my best and improve from the time before.
Q: What do you prefer sprints or distance running?
A: Well, I can appreciate both but right now I prefer sprinting.
Q: What is your favorite event?
A: My favorite event right now is pole vault.
Q: Do you see yourself running in the future.
A: Yeah, I do. Definitely, it’s fun to me.
Q: What is the most challenging part of track?
A: When you actually go to the meets and you’re about to start. You get nervous, so that’s hard.
