Apple releases iPhone 8 and claims to be the most advanced model
May 11, 2017
Apple celebrates its 10 year anniversary of the release of its first iPhone with the release of the iPhone 8, its most advanced model yet.
Though Apple has not confirmed any features for the new device, numerous rumors circulating imply the iPhone 8 will have impressive features unlike any other iPhone. For instance, the phone will be made in three models, one using Organic-Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology and two standard. Compared to the other two, the OLED model will have a more flexible plastic design allowing for a thinner device, less battery consumption and will have better display quality.
Apple is rumored to be testing more than 10 prototypes in order to give customers the most effective redesign. The body of the phone is made of 2.5D glass on the front and back with a stainless-steel mid frame between them, raising questions as to where the Touch ID and front facing camera will be.
The rumors about the phone’s redesign include; Touch ID fingerprint sensor button is built directly into the display, getting rid of the button entirely. However, Apple seems to be having problems implementing the Touch ID feature under display. Supposedly, the Touch ID is underneath the glass body, or even on the back of the phone.
Compared to other models, the edge-to-edge design allows the iPhone 8 to be similar in size to the 4.7-inch iPhone, but will have a larger 5.8-inch display and 5.15 inches on usable area with the additional space dedicated to the virtual buttons that will replace the existing Home button.
In addition to the redesign and new features, the iPhone 8 is water resistant, has a faster processor and wireless charging. The camera is rumored to have optical image stabilization and may include 3D sensing capabilities.
Though nothing is set in stone, the iPhone 8 is expected to be released in September 2017, but supply constraints may push the intended release day back. As for the price, the new model is expected to range from the current price of the iPhone 7 Plus model or upwards of $1,000 dollars.
