Comic and gaming enthusiasts dressed in cosplay strolled the school hallway holding bags of collectibles they purchased in the trader’s room at the first annual Comic and Game Convention.

“The event was pretty much a success for their first time,” senior Cedric Eusantos said. “My favorite part was buying comic books because I can’t always find the time to buy comic books.”

From 9 a.m.to 3 pm., the school was transformed into a miniature Comic Con including classrooms where students could play various board and card games. There were also forums with professionals who showed attendees how to create their own board games and draw cartoon characters such as “Sonic the Hedgehog” and “The Simpsons.”

The Multi-Purpose Room was transformed into a comic book store for this event and different venders sold comic books and other items for sale. Science teacher James Morrison met comic book writer Stan Lee and got some comic books signed by him to auction off in the library during the convention. Lee recorded a message for convention attendees, too. 

There were even activities available for parents in the Parent Center. They could speak with parents of current students and listen to presentations.    

“I liked the game room and the MPR because I bought a lot of stuff,” junior Giselle Rizo said. 

Morrison and science teacher Stephen Schaffter organized the comic convention and plan to hold it again next spring.
