“The New 52” was one of the biggest initiatives DC Comics took when it came to relaunching its line of ongoing monthly comic books. “DC Rebirth” aims to hit the same success that “The New 52” had, only with even more to look forward to.

First off, one of the most exciting and confusing decisions made during the event is without a doubt the reveal of the Joker’s real name. Almost no one knows why this is actually being done and it’s even been teased before in “Justice League #42,” but the reality of it was a reach.

The first issue will be “DC Universe: Rebirth #1” and will go on sale on May 25. “The future (and past) of the DC Universe starts here. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!” is the first thing you see on the comic’s fea- ture page on the DC Comics website.

Although “The New 52” saw some success, it was still a controversy how the reboot wiped out the flow of almost 30 years of comics. “Rebirth” is not a reboot. It’s simply a continuation with new rollouts of each series. It is still “The New 52.”

Some comics like “Black Canary,” “Midnighter” and “Grayson” are not found in the new lineup, which has been a disappointment to some fans who have grown to actually like those lines of books.

Rebirth is nevertheless an exciting event for many comic book lovers. It really might help out the franchise who, although have been receiving critical acclaim for some of the works they’ve been putting out, have been struggling very hard with actually pushing any copies of their issues out to the public.

With the most popular series only sell- ing half of 100,000 at best, DC is hopeful “Rebirth” is a turnaround for the fans and for the franchise.
