Junior Matthew Sarenana won the Valley Talent Scholarship for his performance on guitar of “Dream On” by Aerosmith.

“I want to study music, specifically jazz, and maybe be a music teacher,” Sare- nana said. “My dream is to go to the Berk- lee School of Music.”

Sarenana’s mother received an email from the Parent Teacher Student Association about scholarship opportunities and saw that her son was eligible for the Valley Talent Scholarship.

Contestants had to submit an audition video of themselves playing a song. A select few were asked to perform for a live audition in front of three college professors. There were two winners overall.

In October 2015, Sarenana performed with his band, The Sardines at Daniel Pearl World Music Day.
