Elyssa Gorospe won a $2,000 scholarship from the Valley University Women.

Senior Elyssa Gorospe will be attending a banquet to receive a scholarship from the Valley University Women on June 15.

“When I got the call that I got the scholarship, I was so happy. I was speechless,” she said. “I didn’t think I was going to get it and when I did, I called my mom right away and told her the news.”

Two weeks ago, Gorospe got an email informing her that she would be receiving the Valley University Women scholarship. This scholarship will help pay her tuition when she attends the University of California Irvine, where she will be majoring in biology in the fall.

“The scholarship will definitely help me financially for my first year in college,” Gorospe said. “It’s two  grand less I have to worry about and I’m so thankful that I received it.”

This scholarship is just another accomplishment to add to Gorospe  list of achievements she has obtained during her high school life. While in high school, she served as co-team captain of the tennis team and was design editor for Prestige Yearbook for two years.
