Rapchat lets users communicate through music
June 3, 2015
Rapchat is a new way to interact with friends through music. You could sing, make your own rap or rap to beats.
What began as an idea by two college kids from Cleveland steadily grew. The creator Seth Miller wanted to make a Snapchat for music. Rapchat was launched two years ago and has already reached over 300,000 downloads.
To make a rap, you simply select a beat and sing or rap to it. Next send it to friends or upload it to your social media.
“It’s fun seeing what beats your friends come up with and making your own,” freshman Kimberly Chavez said.
Rapchat is planning on adding new improvements including group messaging, new beats and vocal effects. With these upgrades, any beginner can sound like a professional.
When the app is first opened, you end up in the “studio.” In order to send raps to friends, you have to sign in with Facebook. Unlike Snapchat, raps made and received could be saved.
“I never thought rapping was my thing, but Rapchat makes it really fun,” freshman Lisset Bayardo said.
Rapchat earned four and a half stars on the app store. People noticed they were not able to download the app on all devices. Also the only way to sign up is with Facebook and the app is only available for Apple devices. Users enjoyed that the app is a new way to communicate with friends through music.
