His influences towards this genre came at an early age from artists around him. The 21-year-old British singer has named Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie as his musical influences. Dylan and Guthrie both share the folk and blues type music that Ezra produces.

Ezra was raised in Hertford, England but later moved to Bristol to attend music school. At the age of 18, he and his friends created a slang term: “petan.” for him and his fans. The word, pronounced as PAY-TAN, has no real meaning but can be used in any situation for himself and his fans.

In 2011, he studied at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute. In 2013, he released his EP “Did You Hear the Rain?” Later in 2014 he was voted one of iTunes “New artist of 2014” and MTV’s “Brand New of 2014.” Recently this year, Ezra performed on “Saturday Night Live” and “The Late Late show with James Corden.”

He has opened up for various artist and bands including Sam Smith, Bastille and Hozier. His upcoming solo-concert in California will be held at The Wiltern on Aug. 14.

“Budapest” is definitely a song to give a listen to and worthy of adding to your summer playlist.
